Last month, we discussed the Fair Deal nursing home scheme with journalist, Eoin Kelleher.

We spoke of how we have urged Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, to reform the Fair Deal scheme. As it stands, the Fair Deal nursing home scheme needs a complete overhaul, failing to adapt to the changing and evolving needs of residents. 

We’re encouraged by a review led by Minister of State, Mary Butler. Although the review favours retaining the current tax arrangements, we hope it paves the way for the necessary changes to the scheme.
