At Carnew Nursing Home, we believe in cherishing every milestone in the lives of our residents. On Wednesday, 28thFebruary, we had the honour of hosting a heartwarming celebration for a very special occasion – Father Larkin’s 90th birthday. All of Father Larkin’s friends, family, and fellow residents joined together to celebrate him, exemplifying the community spirit that defines our home.
The celebration unfolded in the Birch Wing dining room, where the room was transformed into a joyful space adorned with balloons, banners, and handmade birthday cards crafted by our residents. As family, friends and residents filled the room, Father Larkin was welcomed with applause and smiles. The atmosphere was brimming with laughter and music, courtesy of the talented Joe Davitt, who added an extra touch of magic to the occasion.
As Father Larkin blew out the candles on his birthday cake, surrounded by the love and well-wishes of those gathered around him, there was a heartfelt moment that truly reflected the sense of family and community that makes life at Carnew Nursing Home so special.
Countless photos were taken to capture the special moments, ensuring that the memories of this monumental celebration will be cherished for years to come. The Gorey Guardian arrived and wrote up a special piece on Father Larkin’s birthday celebrations, which you can read here.
A special thank you goes out to Grace Lawlor for her invaluable contribution to making this birthday party truly memorable. Her thoughtful planning ensured that every detail, from balloons to the magnificent cake, reflected the warmth and love of our celebration. Another big thank you to our wonderful kitchen staff who prepared a delectable spread which catered to every taste, and to our admin, reception and care teams who ensured the party was a huge success. And finally, to our amazing residents and their family and friends, who are constantly exemplifying the importance of maintaining strong bonds in senior homes like ours.
